Professor Xose M. Lopez-Fernandez received the M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering and obtained the Ph.D. degree (with first class honors) from Vigo University, Vigo, Spain, in 1992 and 1997, respectively. He is currently Professor in the Dept. of Electrical Engineering, University of Vigo, and was Visiting Professor at the University of Artois, Bethune, France.
He was Director of R&D Department for EFACEC Transformers from 2012 to 2014. He is the main Editor and Co-author of the monograph Transformers. Analysis, Design and Measurement.
Professor Lopez-Fernandez is the founder and General Chairman of The International Advanced Research Workshop on Transformers. He is leading research projects and consultant for utilities and power transformer manufacturers. His research interests are on design aspects of electrical machines. Dr. Lopez-Fernandez received the Alfons Hoffmann's Medal by the Polish Power Engineering Society in 2004 for his contribution in promoting knowledge on Power Transformer.
He is a IEEE Senior Member, Member of the IEEE-PES Transformers Committee as well as active member of CIGRE Working Groups.
Professor Xose is the Founder Member and President of the Spanish Association for Transformers Innovation (RedInTransf).
Design aspects of electromagnetic devices and electrical machines with main focus in power transformers.
Professor Lopez-Fernandez is the founder and General Chairman of The International Advanced Research Workshop on Transformers (ARWtr).
The International ARWtr (Advanced Research Workshops on transformers) conferences are held every three years under auspice of CIGRE and IEEE-PES.
